UPDATE 23 FEB 2015

Congrats to Tadhg Lowe (Man of the Match), Donie and Enda Smith on winning Sigurson Cup medals with DCU against UCC on Saturday in Cork. Congrats to the other Roscommon representatives on the team -Conor Daly (Padraig Pearses) and Fintan Kelly (Castlerea). It is a unique honour for our Club to provide three members to a Sigerson Cup winning team. The historians are checking to see what, if any, club has done so previously. Well done to Enda Smith on his match winning performance in the semifinal on Friday. Commiserations to Boyle’s Cillian Cox who was a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland team which lost the Higher Education Corn na Mac Leinn to GMIT in Cork on Saturday.

The Cooney Motors/ Cooney’s Centra Juniors had a merited two point win over St Michaels at wet and wind swept Ardcarne on Sunday in the Division 5 League. They will now have a break until early April.

The U-16’s were due to play St. Ronan’s at the weekend but was postponed due to an unplayable pitch. Their next outing will be against a Kilglass Gaels/ St Barrys combination in two weeks’ time.

The National Automation Limited Minors will open their League campaign with a home game against Western Gaels in Abbey Park on Sunday next at 10.30am.

 Thanks to all team managers and their assistants from all teams in the Club (male and female), who attended the meeting on Wednesday night last at which details of coaching plans, code of ethics and housekeeping/logistics were provided.

UPDATE 16 FEB 2015

The following were €20 winners in the last Club Lotto draw which was held in the Moylurg Inn; Sean McLoughlin (Cloonloo), Eamon Perry, Trevor Conroy, Declan Madigan, Tom Commons and Marcus Lyons. The house prize was won by Ailish Casey. The jackpot wasn’t won and it will be at €8,200 for next Saturday night’s draw which will be held in Dodd’s Bar with Team B in charge.

Boyle's Cooney Motors/ Cooney's Centra Juniors got off to a losing start to their Division 5 League with a defeat by St Aidans in Ballyforan today. They will have chance to make amends on St Michaels in Cootehall in the next round of this competition. It is to be hoped that the players who were absent today for various reasons will be available to strengthen the panel. Thanks to Aidan and David for taking charge of the lads.

The Senior Ladies started their league with a defeat to neighbours Shannon Gaels at the weekend.

All team managers and their assistants are requested to attend n important  meeting in the Clubroom at 8pm sharp on this Wednesday evening.

UPDATE 10 FEB 2015

Our McGovern Directional Drilling seniors have received their O’Rourke Cup fixtures . They will commence their campaign with a home game against Tulsk Lord Edwards on Sunday 22nd March. We follow this up with  four consecutive away games, followed by three home games and concluding with an away game.
In the meantime they are scheduled to play Western Gaels in the Northern Cup this coming weekend. Details will be provided during the week.
They have also been notified of their Senior Championship fixtures for 2015. They will be included in a group with Castlerea St Kevins, Elphin, Strokestown, Kilmore and St.Croans.
Our Cooney Motors/ Cooney’s Centra juniors  are scheduled to commence their Division 5 League campaign on Sunday next in Ballyforan at 2.30pm. They will have a further six games in this completion over the coming months.
Well done to Enda and Donie and Roscommon Seniors on their great win over Down on Saturday evening.
Best wishes to our own David Casey and his St Croans team in the All Ireland Intermediate Club Final in Croke Park on Saturday next.

The following were €20 winners at the most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in Daly’s Lounge ;- Liam Mullaney, Colm O’Connor, Damien Killoran, Seamus Murray, Joe Connell and Noel Cunningham. The house prize was won by Greg Cunningham. The jackpot wasn’t won and it will stand at €8,100 for this Saturday night’s draw which will be held in the Moylurg Inn with Team A in charge.

Well done to  the Roscommon U21s on winning Hastings Cup, and especially to our representatives Evan McGrath and Tadhg McKenna.

UPDATE 26 JAN 2915


The club extends congratulations to Donie and Enda Smith, staring for Roscommon Seniors in their FBD League success.

Enda and club colleagues Evan McGrath and Tadhg Mc Kenna have a U-21 Hasting Cup final to look forward to after defeating Mayo.  Their opponents in the final will be Galway next Saturday at a Longford venue.

Congratulations are also extended to David Casey and St. Croans on reaching the Intermediate Club All-Ireland Final on the 14th of February.

Can all players and others make a final effort to sell Croke Park Club Tickets and return them to Martin Dolan or James O’Boyle. The clubs thanks all who sold and bought tickets so far.

UPDATE 19 JAN 2015

The following were €20 winners at most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in Creightons Bar;-Paul Kelly, Geraldine Beirne, Seamus Cooney, Eileen Flanagan, Hugh McPadden and Padraig Daly. The house prize was won by Risteard Lloyd. The jackpot wasn’t won and will reach the magic €8,000 figure for next Saturday night’s draw which will be held in Daly’s Bar. Team E will be in charge.

Boyle GAA Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Jordan as its Senior Team Manager for the 2015 season. Michael has managed the Roscommon Juniors to National success and we are confident that he and his management team and the panel of players will work hard together to achieve success.

Substantial progress has been made in the recruitment of managers and management teams for panels in all other age groups but positions are still available if any person wishes to get involved. Please feel free to contact any club official to find out more.

Registration is now due and it is essential that all players pay their registration fees immediately as they are not covered for insurance purposes unless registered. Adult player registration fee €80--payable to Club Registrar Stephen Tonra.
Non-players- i.e. club officials, management teams and supporters are also asked to register as members of the Club, registration fee is set at €20.

Tickets for Croke Park draw have now been issued to adult players and club members. Please note the importance of selling at least one book. More books are available.  The club asks the general public to support this draw, excellent prizes on offer. ALL ticket counterfoils and money to be returned to Treasurer James O’Boyle or Chairperson Martin Dolan not later than this Friday evening 30-Jan-2015.

Best wishes are extended to St. Croans and Manager David Casey in their All-Ireland semifinal against Sean O’Mahony’s of Louth.
  
Boyle Ladies Club AGM which was scheduled for Saturday last, was postponed as a mark of respect to Sabrina Kerins and the Hannon family. It has been rescheduled for this Saturday evening the 24th of January at 5pm in the Clubroom. All players, management teams and all who are interested in the continuing development of ladies football in Boyle are asked to attend.

The Club extends its sympathy to Tony Conboy and family on the death of Tony’s sister, Frances Conboy, Castlecoote, and also Minor Club and Ladies Club official Sabrina Kerins on the sad passing of Sabrina’s brother, Justin Hannon, Ballymote.

UPDATE 12th JAN 2015

Tickets are now available for the Croke Park Club draw. All officials and Senior members are asked to sell at least one book. Tickets are priced at 10 euro for a book of 50. Please contact Martin Dolan directly to collect tickets. The Ladies AGM will will take place on Saturday the 17th at 6 o'clock. All who wish to see the continuing development of Ladies football in Boyle at all age levels are invited to attend. The provisional dates for the Senior Championship are May 10th & 31st, June 26th, August 16th & 22nd. The opponents will be St. Croans, Casterea, Strokestown, Kilmore and Elphin. 2014 can be consigned to the archives and we can all look forward to 2015. With the successful minor team of 2014 and the current crop of  under 21's coming through hopes are high for 2015. The club thank Peter Bolger for his efforts in maintaining senior status in 2014 and wish him well in his next role. We are awaiting league dates and should know more in the coming weeks. The club is seeking help with all underage teams and anyone wishing to get involved should contact Martin Dolan directly. Commiseration's to Boyle Celtic on a narrow loss after extra time to St. Michael's of Tipperary in the last 16 of the FAI Junior cup.

UPDATE 5th JAN 2014

There was a large attendance at Boyle GAA Club AGM which was held in the Clubroom on Saturday evening last. Club Vice President Barry Feely complimented the Club Officers and the various team managements on their running of the Club over the past year. Chairperson Martin Dolan welcomed the attendance and thanked all who had contributed to the Club’s activities in 2014. He noted that some silverware was won and that there were good performance by many other teams and that there were also a small number of disappointments which will be addressed in the coming year. He thanked all who sponsor the club teams, and especially the three main sponsors, McGovern Directional Drilling, Cooney Motors/ Cooney’s Centra and National Automation Limited. He also extended thanks to all who supported the various fundraising activities including the Club Lotto, and Brogans and Natural Options Pharmacies for sponsoring the lotto envelopes. The Chairperson also thanked the various management teams for their commitment to the preparation of the teams. He paid special tribute to the officers of Boyle Ladies Club and his own club officers for the outstanding success of the “Who Wants to be  a Thousandaire” fundraiser. He also informed the meeting that as a consequence of a Croke Park decision, there would no longer be a separate Minor Club into the future and that one set of officers would run the affairs of the Club, with a sub-committee of the Club to look after underage activities. The Secretary Mary Clifford presented a comprehensive review of the year’s activities, while the Treasurer Mary Smith reported on the financial position of the Club. The following were elected as Club officers for the coming year;- President-John Joe Nerney,  Vice President -Barry Feely, Chairperson-Martin Dolan, Vice Chairperson-Kathleen Hanmore, Secretary-Kathleen Hanmore, Assistant Secretary--to be decided, Treasurer-James O’Boyle, Assistant Treasurer-Mary Smith, PRO- Shane Spellman, Assistant Treasurers-to be appointed . County Board Delegates--Martin Dolan and Mary Clifford (substitutes-Aidan Lavin and Liam Clifford), Childrens’ Officer-Jan Flanagan, Delegates to North Western Board- Michael Brennan and Paul Beirne, Insurance Officer-Michael Furey, Pitch Co-Ordinator-Martin Purcell (Assistant-Aidan Lavin), Club Lotto Co-Ordinator-Aidan Lavin. The underage committee to make nominations to the executive.
